Housing Disaster!

Oh no, the worst phonecall came yesterday. This post isn't hamster related but I need to get it off my chest!

We had secured the house to move into NEXT WEDNESDAY and everything was good until...I got a phonecall yesterday saying the landlord had been offered cash and someone had bought the property. That leaves me and Mr Onion in the metaphorical poop. We have no house and need to vacate our current one in less than a week. The amount of stress I feel right now is insane! We were all set to rent and he sells it! What a ****.

Sigh. So there we go, now I have 4 days to find a house. Because of all this my hamsters arn't getting enough attention, I go out, trail round the estate agents and then come home and fall into bed. Sunday will be their day I guess. Poor hammies :( poor Onion :(

Moving with Pets

Moving house is stressful enough without having to think of your pets whilst you do it, so if possible have someone look after your pets during the move. If this isn't possible, like with me at the moment, there are various things you can do to make it easier.

  • Keep them in their cages where possible - it is easier for them to adjust if they are in their normal environment.
  • Take them in the moving van first, or last, and try to prevent boxes being stacked on top of them.
  • Clean them out just before the move so you can leave them alone for a little while after moving.
  • Try not to be stressed when you hold them. This is important because I know I'm super stressed at the moment, as most people in the middle of a move will be, and your pets can pick up on that, so keep as calm as possible around them.
Those are the basic tips I am using during my move, if anyone has any to add please comment and I will add them to the list :D
